BUFFALO, N.Y. — Latisha Rogers worked behind the customer service desk at the Tops store on Jefferson Avenue on May 14, 2022.
Fearing for her life, she called for help.
In a whisper, she told a 911 dispatcher that a gunman had opened fire in the store.
Rogers says the 911 dispatcher told her not to whisper. She remained quiet, as the shooter remained in the store, and kept firing rounds. She says the dispatcher, who has since been fired, yelled at her and hung up on her.
Eventually, police arrived. Rogers saw seven of the ten people killed as she left the store.
"A lot I wish I didn't have to see," Rogers said.
She has since returned back to Tops and is working in a different location.
