BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Catholic Diocese on Sunday responded to the news that Holy Angels Church on Porter Avenue would be closing.
The church cited financial issues for the closure in a Facebook post on Saturday.
On Sunday, the diocese said they were not involved in that decision, but it was the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, who own and operate the parish, that decided they could no longer staff it.
The church will celebrate its last mass in July of next year.
