BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo during the past week revealed a slew of parish merger recommendations.
The recommendations started with Buffalo and Cheektowaga, then spread out to the Northtowns, Southtowns, and across Western New York.
Here's the complete list of recommendations made during those recent meetings:
Family No. 1
- SS. Brendan and Jude: merge with Immaculate Conception, Almond site to close, Alfred site to remain open
- Blessed Sacrament, Andover: merge with Immaculate Conception
- St. Mary, Bolivar: merge with Immaculate Conception
- Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph, Wellsville: merge with Immaculate Conception
- St. Mary, Canaseraga: merge with Immaculate Conception, remain as a secondary worship site

- St. Anthony, Fredonia: merge with Holy Trinity and close
- St. Joseph, Fredonia: merge with Holy Trinity and close

These recommendations come after the Diocese announced that it would merge 34 percent of its churches to address recent financial hardships.
