Get Out the Vote rally provides election information, opportunity to register on-site

The New York State deadline to register is Oct. 26, ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — With less than two months to go before Election Day, community leaders are encouraging eligible voters in Buffalo to exercise their fundamental rights.

A Get Out the Vote rally was held Saturday in the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor to provide residents with information about voting, and to allow them to register on-site.

"Now we have more opportunity to exercise the right that we have been given, the only right to exercise the voice that we can sound as a trumpet to make a change in our society," Rev. Mark Blue, who's president of the Buffalo NAACP, told 2 On Your Side.

"I want people to know your vote is important. A no vote is still a vote, so your vote is very important."

Here in New York State, the deadline to register is Oct. 26, ahead of the Nov. 5 election.
