Here's how to get help if experiencing issues while voting in NYS

The Election Protection Hotline offers help to voters with absentee ballots, early mail-in ballots, or in-person at their polling place. Call (866) 390-2992.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Early voting is here, and the November General Election is just around the corner. 

Beginning on Saturday, October 26 New York State residents can begin early voting until Sunday, November, 2. The General Election is on Tuesday, November 5. 

In an effort to help alleviate a range of issues voters may encounter when at the polls, the NYS Attorney General's Office will be launching the Election Protection Hotline. 

The hotline is (866)-390-2992 and can be used by anyone who needs troubleshooting with voting which includes issues voting by absentee ballot, early mail ballot, or in-person at their polling place. 

“All New Yorkers have the right to feel safe when casting their votes,” said Attorney General James. “Our Election Protection Hotline will help ensure that every voice is heard – whether you’re voting by mail, early, or in-person on Election Day. My office is committed to protecting free and fair elections and we will continue to do everything in our power to ensure a safe, smooth voting process for all. I urge every New Yorker to contact our hotline to resolve election-related questions or concerns.”

The telephone hotline will be open between 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. during early voting and between 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Election Day. The hotline will also be available the day before and after Election Day between 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. 

Written requests for assistance may be submitted at any time through the online complaint form. Hotline calls and written requests for assistance are processed by OAG attorneys and staff.
