BUFFALO, N.Y. — There's a growing list of candidates who are at least considering running for the U.S. House of Representatives seat that will soon be vacated by Brian Higgins.
Higgins, who represented New York’s heavily Democratic 26th Congressional District, has not said what's next for him, but sources told 2 On Your Side he will assume the role of president and CEO of Shea’s Performing Arts Center.
State Senator Tim Kennedy has already announced a run for the Higgins seat, which includes Buffalo, Lackawanna, Niagara Falls, Tonawanda, and North Tonawanda.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown on Friday said he might consider running as well.
"Congress can't move forward on that because people can't resolve their differences and work through issues," he said. "That's got to change. It's damaging our country, so based on issues like that, I think its important for me to look at the potential of a run to replace Congressman Higgins."
Mayor Brown said he can be the voice in the center, to bring the right and left together, if he decides to run.
