New deputy mayor under examination by Buffalo Civil Service Committee

Members wanted more information about Brian Gould and his vision for the city before officially appointing him, and his $148,000 salary.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Civil Service Committee met Wednesday morning to appoint the staff members of new Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon.

On Wednesday's agenda was new deputy mayor Brian Gould. Members wanted more information about Gould and his vision for the city before officially appointing him, and his $148,000 salary.

"My conversation is not about the individual, it's just about the salary and about a resume," committee chair Rasheed N.C. Wyatt said. "If someone's going to make that, we need to what their capabilities are, even though we don't have a decision in it, but I want to see something."

Added committee member David Rivera: "Provide us with that information to talk about what his ideas and visions for what he plans, what he proposes to do as acting or deputy mayor."

Members have asked for a meeting with Gould and have tabled his appointment until that can happen.
