Perry murder case goes to grand jury

Judge Michael Hyjek concluded there is enough evidence in the case to proceed to a grand jury.

WARSAW, NY - A woman charged with murder in the Wyoming County Village of Perry was in court on Friday.
Kira Kastenhuber, 38, faced a felony hearing almost a week after police say she killed 33-year-old mother Desirae Withey in Withey’s Borden Avenue home.

Judge Michael Hyjek concluded there is enough evidence in the case to proceed to a grand jury. Kastenhuber, who is represented by a public defender, is being held without bail on a second-degree murder charge.

District Attorney Donald O’Geen praised the police work that lead to the arrest. He said the DA's office is still looking for help to find out more about what might have led up to the tragedy. If you have any relevant information you’re asked to call the New York State Police at (585) 786-5152.
