BUFFALO, N.Y. — There's a new monument at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park that honors the soldiers we've lost to suicide.
It's called "The Battle Within," and it depicts a soldier carrying a fallen soldier who took his own life.
It's one of the first permanent monuments of its kind in the country.
"More veterans have died since Vietnam from wounds that we can't see, than have died in conflict. It's just staggering. And this brings awareness to this," said Daniel DiNatale, Director of The Battle Within Foundation.
The monument will be officially dedicated and unveiled during a ceremony on the U.S.S. Little Rock on Memorial Day.
