BUFFALO, N.Y. — Yoga Fest is coming to Outer Harbor in an event to raise money for children's fitness.

The yoga event offers experienced and beginner yogis a full schedule of outdoor yoga classes. Local instructors will teach classes beginning at 10 a.m. on September 5 at Terminal B. Along with yoga, the event offers food trucks, health and wellness vendors, live music, and giveaways.

General manager of Buffalo Waterfront, Lauren Ford, said the event will give people one of the last chances to appreciate the Summer.

"Yoga Fest is a great opportunity to enjoy one of the final days of summer along our city’s beautiful waterfront," she said.

A $15 ticket will act as a donation to benefit the Fitness for Kids Challenge by the Independent Health Foundation. The initiative aims to challenge kids to exercise daily and eat healthy, nutritious food in partnership with local schools. Participating schools, teachers, students, and classrooms can receive prizes.

Kids 13 years old and younger are free.

Vice president of marketing at Independent Health, Kathy Glieco, said Yoga Fest helps support the community while providing a meditative event.

"As September marks National Yoga Awareness Month, we invite everyone to join us for some mindfulness, stretching, and relaxation along the waterfront – all while supporting a great cause."
