Police: Jamestown man dies in motorcycle accident

John W. Hodgkin, a 77-year-old man from Jamestown, was driving west bound on State Route 394 on his motorcycle.

POLAND, N.Y. — The New York State Police reported that a man died in a motorcycle crash around 1:10 p.m. Friday in the town of Poland.

John W. Hodgkin, a 77-year-old man from Jamestown, was driving west bound on State Route 394 on his motorcycle.

The vehicle was a 2017 Harley Davidson, and as it exited the roadway off the north shoulder it hit a ditch, according to a statement from state police.

The police say this sent Hodgkin out of the motorcycle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy will be performed, and the crash is still under investigation.
