BUFFALO, N.Y. — Western New Yorkers who are looking to help save rescue dogs can do so this weekend. Buffalo Underdog Rescue says they've hit an unprecedented high cost in medical bills and need some relief.
Here are some examples of that.
This is Martha, she came from the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter. Her foster family is taking her back and forth to Cornell for surgeries. She's already looking at a $13,000 bill and she is still needs another surgery or two to go.

Annie and Clove (pictured above) are needed another type of surgery. One that costs the shelter almost $3,000 each.
"Our medical bills are constantly rising because we always have more needs. In addition to all of those recent surgeries, we also have about a dozen dogs that are receiving heart worm treatment that and can be anywhere from around $1,200-$1,300 a dog," Samantha Robinson, a board member with Buffalo Underdog Rescue said.
This is just a few of the largest medical expenses they've had recently.
You can help these dogs by going to Buffalo Underdog Rescue's first annual Bur-fest on August 25 at Buffalo Iron Works. The event starts at 2 p.m. This event is just for humans, but if you'd like to come out and meet their dogs they are also going to be at the car show in Williamsville on August 24. This event starts at noon.
