BUFFALO, N.Y. — The national average for gas prices this week has gone up 5 cents from last Monday putting us at $3.20 a gallon. Looking back one year ago, the price of gas was $3.42.
New York's average across the state is $3.28 which has remained the same as it was a week ago.
AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:
- Batavia - $3.24 (no change from last Monday)
- Buffalo - $3.32 (down 1 cent from last Monday)
- Elmira - $3.05 (down 1 cent from last Monday)
- Ithaca - $3.19 (down 2 cents from last Monday)
- Rochester - $3.26 (no change from last Monday)
- Rome - $3.31 (down 3 cents from last Monday)
- Syracuse - $3.24 (no change from last Monday)
- Watertown - $3.22 (up 5 cents from last Monday)
AAA reports that oil prices range from $76 to $82 per barrel, a $4 increase from one week ago. Diesel prices are also fluctuating. The national average price for diesel is $4, up 7 cents from one week ago, and down from $4.56 a year ago. The New York average for diesel is $4.40, up 1 cent from a week ago, and lower than $5.21 one year ago.
Motorists should map routes, avoid peak traffic times like rush hour, and combine errands into one trip while using cruise control when possible as a way to conserve fuel.
