How did WNY's Sydney Sterlace do on Monday night's 'The Voice'?

West Seneca's Sydney Sterlace competed in her first round of battle performances on NBC's "The Voice" Monday night. Here is how it went.

WEST SENECA, N.Y. — West Seneca's very own Sydney Sterlace has began competing in the battle rounds of NBC's singing competition show "The Voice."

In September Sydney had made her debut in the audition round of the show, getting all four judges chairs to turn, and ultimately choosing Gwen Stefani as her coach.

The Voice which airs on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on NBC began the shows battle rounds on this past Monday night.

Monday nights show featured Sydney facing her teammate Sloane Simon. The two sang a duet version of a popular Billie Eilish song "Birds of a Feather."

After the two contestants finish singing it is then up to their coach to choose who will stay, and who will be eliminated.

"I'm going to go with a really weird voice inside of me" Stefani started saying "The winner of this battle is Sydney."

Stefani then got up from her seat to hug both Sydney, and her teammate Sloane who was eliminated.

Sydney is now 1 of 36 contestants still remaining.

In a post made to the West Seneca Central School District's Facebook page they shared their continued excitement for Sydney writing, "Congratulations to West Seneca's very own Sydney Sterlace winning the first Team Gwen battle last night!!"
