Ambulance rolls over Tuesday with a 71-year-old patient onboard

West Seneca Police are asking drivers to avoid the area near the 219 North exit ramp, following an ambulance roll over accident.

WEST SENECA, N.Y. — West Seneca Police are currently at the scene of an accident on the 219 North exit ramp and telling motorists to avoid the area until further notice. 

Police reported that at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday there was a car accident involving an ambulance that had been traveling from North Collins to Mercy Hospital with a 71-year-old patient onboard. 

The ambulance had rolled over while getting off of the route 219 North exit ramp onto Ridge Road East, according to police on scene. The 71-year-old patient and two EMT's who were onboard were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries are not known at this time. 

According to West Seneca Police, "The Ridge Road East exit ramp remains closed and is expected to be shut down for the next several hours. The West Seneca Police Department Accident Investigation Unit is currently on the scene. We urge motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available."
