WEST SENECA, N.Y. — The Town of West Seneca has paid $4.5 million for the former Gemcor Automation building at 100 Gemcor Drive, off Union Road.
The town will convert the 98,090-square-foot building into a new highway garage, replacing the building at 39 South Ave. that burned down on Christmas Day in 2021.
"It has so many advantages for us," town Supervisor Gary Dickson said. "It was, relatively speaking, far cheaper, and it's much bigger than we would have built."
Dickson said it would have cost at least $10 million to replace the existing garage, which was about a third of the size of the Gemcor building.
