Wellsville Central School celebrate softball and shotput state champs

The Allegany County Legislature Board welcomed both the softball team and shotput champion to recognize their achievement.

WELLSVILLE, N.Y. — Wellsville Central School has not one but two state champions to celebrate. 

At a September meeting of the Allegany County Legislature, the board welcomed both the softball team and a shotput champion to recognize their athletic achievements. 

Kaylee Oswald is a senior at Wellsville C.S. and is now a two-time State Champion in girls shotput. Her winning throw of 44 feet 4.75 inches not only won her the state title, but also broke the school record.

The 2024 Wellsville C.S. Varsity Softball team also brought home a state title of their own back in June. In a 7-1 victory over Schuylerville High School, the girls secured the school's first ever Class B state title. The team finished the season with an impressive 23-1 record.
