20-inch water main break in Cheektowaga has been repaired

"The road damage resulting from the break will be restored this evening and will be ready for the morning commute," the ECWA says.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — A 20-inch water main break on William Street in Cheektowaga that impacted the evening commute has been fixed.

The break on William Street in Cheektowaga, near exit 52A off 90 East, was reported at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Erie County Water Authority urged people to avoid the scene while crews worked on repairs.

The ECWA, through a news release shortly before 10:30 p.m., said the repairs had been made.

"The road damage resulting from the break will be restored this evening and will be ready for the morning commute. Motorists will not have to avoid the area," the ECWA said.

Customers who were along William Street, between Harlem and Union roads, had been told they would most impacted by the water main break.
