BATAVIA, N.Y. — Crews in Batavia are working to fix a water main that burst early Friday morning, impacting parts of the City of Batavia.
The Batavia Water Department issued a press release saying it is making repairs to a 12-inch water main on Richmond Avenue between Verona Avenue and Oak Street.
The water department told 2 On Your Side that its crew had reached the broken pipe and stated in the release that repair should go quickly if no issues occur.
People who use city water will notice discoloration, according to the water department, after the repairs are completed. The department was unable to say when exactly that might occur.
The Department is advising the public to refrain from doing any laundry until the water runs clear.
Superintendent of Water and Wastewater Tom Phelps apologized for any inconvenience and said he appreciates the public's patience while crews work on the pipe.
