VILLAGE OF SLOAN, NY - With an aging sewer infrastructure causing infiltration, inflow, and pollution in Scajaquada Creek, the Village of Sloan Wednesday was awarded funding to help fix just that.
Over $1.5 million was granted by the State to correct inflow and infiltration issues, as part of a Consent Order between Sloan and the State DEC. And that's only a quarter of what the village (with 3,500 residents) will have to pay in the Consent Order.
“This funding is critical to the village’s compliance with the DEC Order on Consent, and it will assist Sloan taxpayers in paying for the necessary repairs," says Village of Sloan Mayor, Thomas Ferrucci.
The DEC Order on Consent will cost the Village of Sloan roughly $6.08 million, according to the NYS Assembly.
"The Village of Sloan has been working diligently to address the DEC Order on Consent and to upgrade its aging infrastructure," said Assemblywomam Monica Wallace. "This state investment will help Sloan address costly and environmentally-hazardous inflow and infiltration issues and reduce pollution.”
