BUFFALO, N.Y. — Holidays can not be only a busy season, but also tough for those with children struggling to keep the Christmas magic bright while money is tight.
The United States Postal Service is stepping in to help those who may be in need, and is looking for the community's help.
Operation Santa gives people in the community the opportunity to become Santa Claus themselves and make a kid's day in four easy steps. People can become Santa for those both near and far all across the country.
After compiling a database the USPS asks those looking to make a difference to visit www.uspsoperationsanta.com where they will be able to look through letters kid's have written, and choose the one's that they wish to help out.
Those interested can sign-up now, and letter adoptions will begin on November, 20.
After receiving letter adoptions, people will then shop for their adoptees based on the letter's wish list, and the USPS will anonymously send it to the recipient, but address it from Santa.
Packages do have to be wrapped and packaged by the sender themselves and shipped from a participating post office by December, 18.
