BUFFALO, NY-- More than 3,000 WNYers will be lending a helping hand today.

It's the United Way's 23rd annual Day of Caring. Volunteers will help more than 130 non-profits from across the region.

The Day of Caring is Western New York's largest community service event, but it's not just the non-profits that benefit from the day.

"People who volunteer feel good it lowers their stress level. But they also learn about the value that non-for-profits bring to our community. So we love to engage volunteers in this way," says Michael Weiner, CEO of United Way of Erie County.

Throughout the day, volunteers from more than 145 companies will be out in the community doing everything from teaching kids to fish on Hoyt Lake, to helping refurbish homes.
