BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two deputies from the Erie County Sheriff's Office passed away over the weekend.
Deputy Matthew "OC" O'Connell and Deputy Brian Kostelny from the Jail Management Division both died according to the sheriff's office's Facebook page.
2 On Your Side reached out to a spokesperson for the Erie County Sheriff's Office for more information. Both deaths were "medically related, natural causes" according to the spokesman.
In a social media post, the police department said: "It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of two of our Deputies from the Jail Management Division, Deputy Matthew “OC” O’Connell and Deputy Brian Kostelny, this past weekend. Heart felt condolences are extended to the families of both Deputies."
