BUFFALO, N.Y. — Anyone traveling during this Halloween season should keep in mind of items that may be questioned while traveling through airport security checkpoints.
The Buffalo Niagara International Airport and other airports across New York State are advising travelers to be mindful of their tricks and treats.
Transportation Security Administration shared a list of items that would not be allowed to travel with during Halloween time. People dressed in costumes that include masks will be asked to remove those during checkpoint, and face paint is also not allowed unless it is partial and can still be matched to a person's ID.
Capes and prop items should be put away inside of a checked bag to avoid alarming the body scanner.
Items that look like weapons or replicas such as knives, hatchets, pitchforks, light sabers, brooms, swords and scythes, must be placed in checked bags. Explosive replicas, including grenades, bombs or rocket launchers should never be packed.
As always, liquids, gels, creams, pastes or lotions can only be 3.4 ounces or less and must fit into a plastic quart-sized bag. This includes fake blood that may be used for costumes as well.
The good news is, candy of all sizes will be allowed through checkpoint however, security asks for any large bags to be removed from your bag and placed in the checking bin.
People traveling are also allowed to bring their jack-o-lantern pumpkins with them if they can fit it in their carry-on.
