AMHERST, N.Y. — Amherst Fire Inspectors are investigating a house fire in Snyder that caused $400,000 in damage.
According to firefighters on the scene, the fire started on Sunrise Boulevard in the town of Amherst, just after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Snyder Fire Chief Tim Oliver says the fire was under control in 30 minutes.
Firefighters on the scene tell 2 On Your Side that there was a heavy fire in the garage that spread to the attic and kitchen of the ranch-style home.
Two elderly residents and a dog were able to safely evacuate the home with no major injuries. One of the residents was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital for an evaluation.
While the investigation is still taking place, fire officials believe the cause of the fire could be electrical. Damage is estimated at $400,000.
