Tornado cleanup continues in downtown Buffalo

Crews on Wednesday cleaned up debris and trees that were uprooted during the storm. Repairs in the area are expected to cost millions of dollars.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — City crews were back outside Wednesday, working to clean up the damage left behind by the tornado in downtown Buffalo on Monday.

Crews cleaned up debris and trees that were uprooted during the storm.

Buffalo Common Council member Mitch Nowakowski was among those surveying the damage, with a message for the community.

"I just want to urge my constituents that we will be able to pick up that debris," he said. "I understand that chimneys may have come down. Patio furniture, refuse from garbage cans, you name it. Please, get it to the curb Friday. Crews will be picking it up."

Repairs in the area are expected to cost millions of dollars.
