BUFFALO, N.Y. — Due to lake effect snow conditions and travel bans, local businesses made the decision to shutdown operations early on Wednesday.
Tops Markets announced that they have reopened all of their Erie County stores to serve the community as of 6 a.m. on Thursday, January 18.
Wegmans also released a statement saying all Erie County stores are reopen on Thursday, January 18.
Gov. Kathy Hochul, on social media, urged businesses to let employees out early so they could get home safely on Wednesday.
"Heavy snow is going to continue impacting Buffalo and the Western New York area throughout the afternoon and evening, making travel during rush hour dangerous," she said. "I’m encouraging employers to send staff home by 3 p.m. so they can beat the worst of the snow and get home safely."
