TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Town of Tonawanda officials have confirmed with 2 On Your Side that a 15-year-old teenager that was hit by a pickup truck while riding his bike Tuesday night, has passed away.

A spokesperson confirmed that the 15-year-old, identified as Luke Guetti, was a 10th grade student at Kenmore East High School.

Police responded to the traffic collision around 8:20 p.m. at Woodstock Avenue and Yorkshire Road.

Guetti was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital, but officials says he died Thursday morning.

No charges are expected to be filed according to police, and the pickup truck driver is cooperating with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with additional information about the incident can contact the Town of Tonawanda Police Department at (716) 879-6614 or the confidential tip line at (716) 879-6606.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help the teen's family.

There will be a community gathering at Kenney Field on July 25 at 8pm to show support to the family.  Please bring a candle or flashlight.

The Ken-Ton School District provided the following statement:

"We grieve with Luke’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all those affected. The passing of a student is the greatest tragedy a family and community can bear, one we are never prepared for. This tremendous loss will deeply affect the entire school community. Because we are in the middle of our summer recess, communicating this devastating news to our students is challenging. We hope that, in the absence of face-to-face classroom conversations with school staff, parents and family members will share this news with your child in the most delicate and loving way possible. We have assembled a team of professionals who are available to support students, staff, and families with these discussions and guiding them through the coping process. All families are welcome to take advantage of these resources. Due to the ongoing construction at Kenmore East, this assistance will be available at the following locations:

Friday, July 26th:

● 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Kenmore West High School Library for summer school students

● 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Franklin Middle School Library (park in the middle school parking lot on the north side of the building and enter through Door #6)
