LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. - The Cattaraugus County Legislature has raised the age at which people can legally purchase tobacco products from 18 to 21-years-old.
The vote was 14-2. Cattaraugus County has the highest rate of adult smokers in Western New York, followed by Allegany and Chautauqua counties.
The Chautauqua County Legislature recently passed similar legislation to attempt to cut youth smoking rates.
