LEROY, N.Y. — Le Roy Central Schools were closed Friday after the district received information about a threat made against it. All afternoon activities, including the football game are also cancelled.
In a letter to parents, Superintendent Merritt Holly says the district became aware of the threat via the district's anonymous Safe School Helpline. The Le Roy Police were immediately notified. A robocall went out to parents letting them know school would be closed. The school district's crisis team was activated as well.
Superintendent Holly says a Jr.-Sr. High student has been identified as allegedly making the threat and that information has been turned over to police. He adds the student and family are cooperating.
The district remains in lockout mode Friday, but all activities will resume on Saturday.
The football game against Avon has been postponed. It has been rescheduled for Saturday.
