The M.A.P. continues to grow and go

Massachusetts Avenue Project Adding a Mobile Market to Bring Fresh Produce to Areas in Need

BUFFALO, N.Y. — It started small in the 1990s on Buffalo's West Side. The Massachusetts Avenue Project is, in more ways than one, a growing program. It’s a great "West Side Story," and now the production is hitting the road.

The Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP) in Buffalo is an urban farm and youth development organization. It aims to promote sustainable food systems, improve access to healthy food, and empower young people through educational programs and urban agriculture.

MAP operates an urban farm on Massachusetts Avenue, where they grow a variety of vegetables, fruits, and herbs using organic and sustainable practices. The farm serves as a learning space where youth and community members can participate in hands-on activities, learn about agriculture, and understand the importance of healthy eating.

The Massachusetts Avenue Project has been expanding its reach on the map of Buffalo, and now it has two new trucks to assist. One transports fruits and veggies from other farms, and one serves as a mobile marketplace to deliver fresh produce to a needy customer base.
