SARDINIA, N.Y - The Erie County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal accident on Route 39 in the Town of Sardinia.
Erie County Sheriff's deputies say Samuel Pagano, 22, of South Wales, who was working as a surveyor, was hit and killed by a car that crossed the center line on Route 39 near West Schutt Road. The vehicle then hit a tree and utility pole.
The driver of the vehicle suffered a leg injury and was taken to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital. The driver's name has not been released.
