Starpoint Central School District superintendent arrested for DWI after crash

According to police, Croft was found in a vehicle with heavy front-end damage and deployed airbags near Nina Terrace at the intersection of East and West Road.

LOCKPORT, N.Y. — As children get set to return to school this week, the Starpoint Central School District Board of Education is investigating an incident involving their superintendent.

West Seneca Police confirmed to 2 On Your Side that 50-year-old Sean M. Croft was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) on August 31.

According to police, Croft was found in a vehicle with heavy front-end damage and deployed airbags near Nina Terrace at the intersection of East and West Road.

After failing several field sobriety tests and showing a positive result on a roadside breath test, Croft was placed under arrest.

He was then taken to the West Seneca Police Station where he was released on appearance tickets for driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely, and imprudent speed.

Starpoint Central School District Board President Jeffrey Duncan issued this statement via email to local news agencies Monday afternoon:

The Starpoint Central School District Board of Education has been made aware of an incident that took place on August 31, 2024 involving Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sean Croft. We are taking this matter seriously as we gather more information. We will provide an update when we are able.

Sincerely,

Mr. Jeffrey Duncan, Starpoint CSD Board of Education President

2 On Your Side also learned letters were sent to parents as well.  In the letter, parents were told Dr. Sean Croft was involved in a motor vehicle accident.

Police say Croft is due back in West Seneca Justice court in mid September.
