Stan Evans retires from The Buffalo News

After 32 years at The Buffalo News, Stan Evans is retiring.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Stan Evans, deputy managing editor of The Buffalo News, retired Wednesday after 32 years of help lead the newspaper's news coverage.

Evans, a Utica native and Army veteran, joined The News in 1985 after working at The Tribune in Hornell and The Post-Standard in Syracuse.

"Thank you Buffalo for giving me this opportunity," Evans said. "I'm not a native of Buffalo, but I've come to love this community and the people here and to appreciate the fabric and the good heart and the good soul of this community."

Evans oversaw stories like the crash of Flight 3407 and the November Storm, a Pulitzer Prize finalist for breaking news reporting in 2015.
