Spectrum: services fully restored after outages across New York, parts of northeast

The company said 'multiple fiber damaged and affected by ice and snow storms' was to blame for issues in New York, Maine and New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.

NEW YORK — Having issues with Spectrum? You were not alone on Saturday.

Spectrum's support team took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon, saying it was experiencing issues in New York, Maine, and New Hampshire. The company said "multiple fiber damaged and affected by ice and snow storms," was to blame, according to a spokesperson.

The issue caused an outage that lasted more than four hours. A Spectrum spokesperson said services were fully restored sometime after 5 p.m.

Customers who had reached out to 2 On Your Side say the phone number listed to inquire about problems was either busy, or a recording said they are experiencing high call volumes and couldn't take your call.

Spectrum had issued this statement Saturday afternoon:

We’ve experienced a damaged fiber in our network, crews are on scene, assessing the latest damage.

Icy storms have been moving across the northeast. Yesterday afternoon, multiple damaged fiber affected our network redundancy, thus causing the loss of some services to customers.

It’s been difficult, gaining access to the area for repairs, until power and storm related damage have been cleared.
