CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Officers responding to a call of "something in the water" discovered what turned out to be a pontoon portion of the Lake Erie ice boom.
A passer-by noticed the boom Tuesday morning and notified authorities.
City of Tonawanda police spokesperson Captain Fred Foels said it was wedged in shallow water near Gibson Street at Niawanda Park.
The Buffalo office of the Army Corps of Engineers was notified.
