Erie County Clerk to open second day service to Pistol Permit Satellite Office in Elma

According to the release, the office is making this possible due to transaction volume and convenience for permit holders.

ELMA, N.Y. — The Erie County Clerk's Office announced that it is adding a second day to its Pistol Permit Satellite Office at Elma Town Hall.

According to the release, the office is making this possible due to transaction volume and convenience for permit holders.

The office will now service Erie County residents as well on Fridays, beginning February 9, from 9:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m., beginning February 9, in addition to the normal Wednesday schedule.

This service enables pistol permit holders who currently have plastic permit cards to take advantage of the following services:

Add/remove firearms, update personal information, pick up new or upgraded applications, and assist with general pistol permit questions. No cash, checks or money orders will be accepted. Fees will be payable by credit card only.

“The pistol satellite office in Elma is tremendously popular,” said Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns. “This satellite location conducts 150 transactions on average every Wednesday, meeting the needs of our customers is always a priority.” Kearns added, “The numbers bare out and dictate the increase in accessibility.”

Those interested in applying for a pistol permit or moving from a paper permit to a plastic card permit must do so at the Pistol Permit office located in Old County Hall, 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo. Please note the office is still accepting transactions, with proper payment, by mail.

“Driving downtown is not convenient for many and securing parking can be difficult on any given day. Convenience is also noteworthy as the parking easy, provides spaces accessible to people with disabilities, and is free at Elma Town Hall. Many permit holders tell us they spend more in parking fees than to amend their pistol permits and they devote more time trying to find a parking spot and walk to the office than they do completing their transaction,” stated Kearns.
