School starts tomorrow for most of WNY, how families are spending their last day of vacation

Summer vacation has officially ended, and families are in full swing preparing for their kids to return to school.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — With school starting tomorrow for many Western New York schools, families enjoyed their final day at Canalside.

Iani Dunbar is excited for his three kids to head back to school, his son Remi is entering first grade and Levi will be starting pre-k this year.

He said they are all prepared with the back-to-school shopping and ready to go.

"We had to go shopping for all the supplies, you know the basics like markers crayons, tissues, wipes," Dunbar said.

Brielle, Brynley, Bailey, and Brooklyn are sisters and they are all super excited to be back at school with their teachers and friends.

Brooklyn will be entering Pre-K this year, so it's mom Taryn's first year with all four girls in school.

Brielle, the oldest, is entering fifth grade this year and is excited to have her very own locker. She said, "I'm really excited to have a locker, that'll be fun, so I'm getting stuff to decorate it with."

As for the older kids, they are just excited to have something to do again.

Imanol Feliz will be in 7th grade this year. Imanol said, "I'm excited to be going back, and talking to everybody. Talking to the teachers and like saying good morning, having things to do because sometimes it gets lonely in the summer."

He plays baseball and loves to sing. He said he may give the drama club a try this year.

Amie Hernandes is all about those extracurriculars.

She will be in 8th grade this year and can't wait to get back to her busy schedule.

Hernandes said, "I'm just excited to do more activities like I'm very active in school, I do a lot of activities, I'm on the student council, I run for president and do music and stuff so I can't wait to do all my activities again."
