BEMUS POINT, N.Y. — The Village Casino in Bemus Point is a traditional American-themed restaurant located right on the waters of Chautauqua Lake.

During their 25-plus years of service, the Village Casino has set and broken the Guinness World Record for most chicken wings sold over 24 hours two times and is looking to take back the title for a third time.

They set the world record for most wings served in a 24-hour period back in 1982 when they served 30,000 wings, and then broke their original record in 2018 when they served a total of 40,210 chicken wings.

The Casino held this record from 1982 until 2023 when Weitzel’s Wings of Laramie, Wyoming, sold 48,083 Buffalo wings.

Weitzel’s Wings is no stranger to the Buffalo community as they have attended the National Buffalo Wing Festival or Wing Fest for the past three years and took home overall festival-favorite accolades back in 2022.

The Chautauqua County restaurant will give its shot at the record this weekend, on Aug. 3rd and 4th.

They will be serving wings from 5 p.m. Saturday, pausing at 3 a.m. on Sunday, and then resuming from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In a post to social media, the Casino said it aims to serve 55,000 wings during the record attempt which would be roughly 7,000 more than the current title.

Additionally, there will be live music and entertainment throughout the weekend. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Company.
