ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — The Erie County Republican Committee and the Erie County Conservative Party announced Saturday, they're endorsing James Gardner for Erie County District Attorney.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Erie County Republican Party and look forward to working together to take back control of the District Attorney’s office in 2024,” said Gardner. “Democrats across New York have abandoned the rule of law, leaving our families and communities defenseless against a devastating border crisis, rising crime, and reckless bail reform laws. Erie County taxpayers deserve a District Attorney who will uphold the rule of law, empower law enforcement, and hold criminals accountable. I am proud of my record as a former Assistant District Attorney and Law Clerk, and I promise to continue my fight to protect law and order and keep Erie County safe as our next District Attorney.”
Erie County District Attorney John Flynn officially announced in January, that he will be stepping down at the end of March.
Michael J. Keane will take over the Erie County DA's office after Flynn leaves, and has already received support from the Erie County Democratic Party.
Keane currently serves as First Deputy DA, and has taken the lead on several high-profile cases including the Tops Shooting.
