CLARENCE, NY-- February 12 marks a grim anniversary for the families of the victims of Flight 3407 and for the Western New York community as well.
Six years ago, a Continental jet, operated by Colgan Airlines, slammed into a home in Clarence Center.
Forty nine people aboard the plane and one person in that home were killed.
An NTSB report found that the crew failed to recognize that the plane was losing speed.
Instead of taking the proper action, they raised the nose of the plane, causing it to lose lift and stall out.
The scene of the crash has since been turned into a memorial for the victims.

The 3407 families continue to lobby lawmakers in washington to make sure the safety changes they fought so hard to get are implemented.
