BUFFALO, NY – A well-known local artist has passed away. William "Bill" Cooper was a painter, muralist, illustrator and art teacher.
His work has been featured in many Buffalo buildings, including the Tri-Main Center where he had a studio. Cooper's paintings and drawings address both his African heritage and his experience as an American through symbolism and metaphor. In 2012 the Burchfield Penney-Art Center designated him as a "living legacy artist".
His talent will certainly be missed.
