BUFFALO, N.Y. — If you like an adrenaline rush and giving back, mark Friday, June 28, 2024 on your calendar.
That's when you can rappel down the side of Seneca One Tower for "Over the Edge," a fundraiser benefitting The Arc Erie County. Thrill seekers can register now to take part in the event.
"Last year we did sell out fairly quickly. We had 44 rappelers going down two ropes, all day long. We had a party in the plaza. It was a lot of fun. I did it last year. For anybody who's a bit of a thrill seeker, it could be a great time, especially that moment when they ask you to step backwards off the edge. There's no other feeling like it in the world because you are so high up," said Doug DiGesare, CEO of The Arc Erie County.
The Arc Erie County is an organization that supports children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It's been around for 75 years. It offers preschool for three and four year olds and school-age programming for those ages five to 21. There's also vocational and residential programming and a clinic. The Arc Erie County serves 2,000 individuals and employs 900 people.
Registration for "Over the Edge" is $50 until January 1, 2024. After that, it goes up to $75. You must fundraise $2,000 to participate.
