Drunk driver strikes Lockport home

Drunk driver hits home and utility pole in the middle of the night.

LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Early Sunday morning, emergency personnel received a 911 call that a vehicle hit a home in Lockport at 4:39 a.m.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered an SUV had gone off the roadway, struck a home, rolled over, and then crashed into a utility pole. 

The driver had fled the scene on foot, but was later identified as Timothy Outten, 26-year old, of Gasport. A search crew found him a short distance away from the home and transported him to ECMC by ambulance for an evaluation.

The homeowner was inside the residence at the time of the accident but was fortunately uninjured.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Outten was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and released at ECMC on appearance tickets.
