OLCOTT, N.Y. — Get ready to cold plunge for a good cause next month during Olcott's 55th annual Polar Bear swim.
Those interested in taking a cold swim in Lake Ontario can sign up now until the day of the event. Happening on March 3 those attending the event can begin tailgating at 10a.m. leading up until the swim that starts at 1p.m.
Swimmers participating will be raising money to benefit those who are visually impaired, as well as other local charities in the area. Spectators are also encouraged to come watch and cheer on those in the water.
"Since 1969, we are very thankful to what has been 1000s of swimmers and their tens of thousands of friends and fans, as well as spectators to see the festivities." the event posted to their Facebook page.
There will be a costume contest for participants swimming, and multiple categories for judging.
