LEROY, N.Y. — The Genesee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash involving a pickup truck and tractor trailer in the Village of LeRoy.

The accident happened just after 7a.m. at the corner of West Bergen Road and Griswold Road.

When deputies arrived, they found a pickup truck that was split in half with the driver of the vehicle sitting in the drivers seat.

Genesee County Sheriff Sergeant Kyle Krzemien says the tractor trailer was traveling north on W. Bergen Road when it was hit by the pickup truck.

"The Chevy Silverado ended up blowing the stop sign, or failing the yield of the stop sign, and went into the path of the tractor trailer," Sergeant Krzemien said.

The driver of the pick up truck suffered a head injury and lower body injury, but was conscious. He was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Charges are pending while police continue their investigation.
