EAST AURORA, N.Y. — A company with operations in East Aurora has concluded its off-shore efforts in the investigation into the catastrophic implosion of the Titan submersible in the North Atlantic Ocean that killed the five people on board.
On Wednesday morning, Pelagic Research Services announced that its team is in the process of demobilizing from the Horizon Arctic.
In a released statement, Pelagic Research Services said:
"Our team has successfully completed off-shore operations, but is still on mission and will be in the process of demobilization from the Horizon Arctic this morning. They have been working around the clock now for ten days, through the physical and mental challenges of this operation, and are anxious to finish the mission and return to their loved ones. Due to confidentiality and duty of non-disclosure, no member of the Pelagic Research Services team can comment on, nor provide any information related to, the ongoing Titan investigation."
The company said that a press conference will take place in East Aurora when the team has returned.
If you've been watching network coverage of the investigation of the Titan submersible implosion, you've been seeing Pelagic's yellow Odysseus 6k tethered submersible. It's being operated from a control room on board its mother ships as it still dives 12,000 feet down to the ocean floor. That's been several times now since last Thursday when it sadly first found the debris from the implosion of the Titan.
