BUFFALO, N.Y. — As December 7 approaches, it is also the day that President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared "a date which will live in infamy", Pearl Harbor Day.
December 7, 1941, marks the day that Japan launched an attack on the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It is not forgotten that over 2,400 military service people and community members were killed,, along with all of the other damage done that day.
American Legion Post 735 will host the 35th Annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Service on Thursday, December 7. It will be in front of Post 735 at 35 Legion Pkwy. in West Seneca.
With a limited of services after so many years and only a handful of survivors left, the American Legion continues to serve its remembrance.
In honor of those killed, injured, raided, and of the damaged ships and aircraft, there will be a special tribute.
Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns will be a guest speaker at the remembrance. The service will start at 12:00 p.m. and will be followed by coffee and food at the end of the ceremony.
