AKG lowers parking cost for non-members

The lowered parking fee for non-members will be permanent even after construction finishes around the AKG.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo Department of Public Works is getting ready to begin construction in the area around the AKG Art Museum, and campus.

Because of this, the AKG will be offering visitors a lower parking fee than the usual due to the inconvenience the construction may cause for visitors when getting to and from the museum.

The price for museum members will remain the same at $8 for 3 hours, and the price for non-members will decrease from $20 for 2 hours to $12 for 3 hours.

According to a press release from the AKG, "For the duration of construction, there will be no pedestrian access through the part of the campus located within the perimeter of the construction fence. The City’s ongoing work will not interrupt or disrupt the Buffalo AKG’s planned summer programming, including the Lipsey Summer Jazz series or the use of the Seymour H. Knox Building’s east patio."

These new rates will continue on after construction ends as the museum has decided to make them permanent in a way to add onto the many new improvements being made. Some other improvements include lawn restoration, asphalt pathways, park lighting, and more.
