BUFFALO, N.Y. — Dwayne Belton spends a little father-and-son time with his 3-year-old in the backyard. His son, Avion, is supposed to be in daycare for the day but had to stop going when Avion's mom got disturbing news.
"They told her that our son's life might be in danger," Belton said.
After that, that's when Belton says these Facebook posts started appearing, claiming abuse of children at Mary's Little Lambs daycare.
"My son was being hit in the head, and (they) told him he was autistic," Belton said.
Belton claims that one time, his child came home with a bruise on his face. His girlfriend had obvious concerns.
However, Belton says the daycare didn't say anything. According to Buffalo Police, 52-year-old Mary Goodwill was arrested after an altercation at the facility. She's charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment.
Buffalo Police said Wednesday that a 17-year-old girl got into a verbal altercation with the director of the daycare over allegations claiming an employee harmed a child. Investigators said the argument turned physical and that the 17-year-old was pushed out the door.
The daycare is closed for a week. There's a sign in the window saying they'll reopen on June 17 and left a number for Miss Kathy.
2 On Your Side called that number.
"That's not true. There was one teacher in there who hit the child on the head. As far as the children not eating, that's not true," said Kathy, who's a director at the center.
It's been an emotional few days for the two, but Belton's main concern is that his son is safe.
"I trusted them. No kid deserves it. They are our future," Belton said.
